SPS completed one of its most unique heritage projects at the iconic Byron Bay Lighthouse, carrying out specialist internal lead paint removal works within this nationally recognised landmark.

• Internal Lead Paint Removal: Ageing lead-based coatings were safely removed from internal surfaces using controlled stripping methods, creating a clean and stable foundation for future finishes.

• Lead Safety & Environmental Control: Comprehensive containment procedures and lead-safe practices were implemented throughout the project to protect the historic structure and surrounding environment.

• Heritage Surface Preparation: Original building materials were carefully handled throughout the removal process, ensuring the lighthouse’s architectural integrity remained unchanged.

Completed in 2014, this project reflects the specialist care required when working on Australia’s heritage landmarks, successfully preparing Byron Bay Lighthouse for the next stage of its preservation.
