Location: Newtown, Sydney NSW

Design in Details

SPS completed external heritage restoration and repainting works at Newtown Town Hall, focusing on the careful renewal of the building’s historic façade and architectural surfaces.

External Surface Restoration: Masonry, sandstone, and brickwork areas across the front façade, side elevation, and rear sections were prepared and restored as part of the works.

Lead Paint Removal: Existing deteriorated lead-based coatings and loose paint layers were removed through controlled hand-scraping methods to achieve a stable surface for repainting.

Façade Preparation & Recoating: All surfaces underwent detailed preparation before the application of a complete coating system, including one undercoat and two topcoats for improved durability and appearance.

The completed works refreshed Newtown Town Hall’s exterior presentation while maintaining the integrity of its original materials and delivering a high-quality finish suitable for a heritage civic building.
