SPS completed specialised external lead paint removal works at the historic Union Bond Store in The Rocks, carefully restoring the original sandstone façade of this landmark building.

• Heritage Paint Removal: Existing lead-based coatings were carefully stripped from the sandstone surfaces using controlled removal techniques suitable for delicate heritage materials.

• Sandstone Care & Preparation: The original stone substrate was carefully managed throughout the process, removing unwanted coatings while maintaining the natural texture and appearance of the façade.

• Safe Work Practices: Lead containment procedures were implemented throughout the project to ensure safe handling, site control, and environmental responsibility.

The completed works revealed the original sandstone finish beneath years of coatings, enhancing the building’s historic presentation and preparing the façade for continued preservation within The Rocks heritage precinct.
